Eveything is meant to happen - the stoic perspective

Everything Is Meant to Happen—The Stoic Perspective

According to the Stoics, everything that happens to you—good or bad—was always meant to happen. Not because of fate in the mystical sense, but because the universe unfolds exactly as it must. The Stoic philosopher Marcus Aurelius wrote:

"Accept whatever comes to you woven in the pattern of your destiny, for what could more aptly fit your needs?"

This idea, called amor fati (love of fate), teaches us that resisting reality is pointless. What happens was always going to happen, and our only real power lies in how we respond.

When life throws challenges your way, instead of asking, "Why me?" ask, "How can I use this?" Every obstacle is fuel for growth. Every hardship is a test of character. The Stoics believed that by aligning yourself with fate—rather than fighting it—you achieve peace.

So, whatever you're facing right now, know this: It was always part of your path. Your job isn’t to change the past, but to shape your response in the present. Accept, adapt, and move forward.
